Overview

You are using an older version of Bonzai (pre 2.0) such as v1.6 and you wish to know how to update the Header and Footer colors of your Sharepoint Site. BRICK is unavailable for versions prior to 2.0 and you find that the Bonzai Intranet Administration (BIA) tool does not have the ability to change these color settings.

Solution

Please note that the settings for Header and Footer colors as well as the image overlays are stored on the Bonzai CDN servers, and it is not recommended to modify these directly. Please see the steps below for a workaround solution: 

1. Please download the attached custom override.css file attached with this article. 
2. Open it with a text editor such as notepad to review it. In this file, you can update each of the following: 
   • Header Color
   • Background Image Color
   • Footer Color
     ​

   Note that the default values in the file have been set to black. The .5 at the end of the Background Image Color row is the opacity of the color, which makes it partially transparent when inserted over your other pictures. You can adjust this as desired. 

3. The !important designation for each row means that these color settings will override any other CSS styles being pulled from the Bonzai CDN server. The process to apply the CSS override can be reviewed here.
   
   Note: If you have an existing override.css file, you can add these styles to it. 
4. Check which master page your site is using here: 
   
5. Navigate to Settings Cog >Site Settings > Master pages and page layouts:
   
6. Click on the dropdown arrow next to the master page and and publish it as a major version to apply any new changes for testing purposes:
