Check the Master Page for Custom Scripts that Cause Slow Page Loading Issues

Overview

You are experiencing >20 second page load times before you can scroll down the page. You suspect a custom script in the Master Page is causing these issues but are uncertain where the Master Page resides. You would like to remove the script below that you found in the Index File.

Solution

  1. Open the Developer Tool and go to the Network tab. Refresh the page
  2. Check if the same script is also in the Network tab
  3. Check if the script is inserted in the "bonzai.master" page. You can find this page by navigating to Site Settings > Master Page Gallery > Bonzai
  4. Make a copy of the master page before making any changes

Testing

Check if the page now loads normally.
